More on the Co-operative

Sales have grown steadily over the years as have assets and shareholder equity. Gay Lea Foods operates processing facilities in Guelph, Teeswater, Madoc, Milford, Stirling, Hamilton, Hagersville and Toronto along with a Minority share in Mariposa Dairy at Lindsay, a Joint Venture in Manitoba with Vitalus and the recent aquisition of Alberta Cheese, Thornloe Cheese and Grober Nutrition. Our processing facilities manufacture a wide variety of dairy products including: award winning butter, skim milk powder, cottage cheese, sour cream, dips, aerosol whips, cream, milk and cheese. Our product line serves retail, industrial and food service customers across Canada.

Gay Lea Foods also launched a Co-operative Dairy Alliance with ADL (Amalgamated Dairies Limited) in Prince Edward Island.

Gay Lea Foods is committed to dedicated stewardship of Ontario’s dairy heritage as shown with the purchase of the Gay Lea Dairy Heritage Museum in Aylmer, Ontario. It is worth the visit, as this wonderful 100 acre site showcases the rich dairy and agricultural history of Southern Ontario, and hosts many school groups each year to teach about dairy and co-operation. In January 2018, Gay Lea Foods announced a partnership with the Ontario Co-operative Association to move the Cooperative Young Leaders Camp to the museum site, so many exciting changes are happening to host the many young people visiting us!
